What is a GAIL LNG station?
A GAIL LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) station refers to a facility developed by GAIL (India) Limited — India’s state-owned natural gas company — for handling, storing, regasifying and/or dispensing LNG. These can serve multiple purposes:
Fuel stations for vehicles (LNG auto-fuel / truck fuel) — offering LNG for heavy trucks and transport as a cleaner alternative to diesel fuel.
Mother or distribution stations — large storage and regasification hubs that supply LNG locally or to smaller “daughter” stations and pipelines.
Satellite or localized LNG terminals — smaller setup where pipelines are not yet available, supplying gas directly to industries or local networks.
LNG is natural gas cooled to −162 °C so it becomes liquid; it’s easier to transport and (especially in heavy vehicles) burns much cleaner than diesel.
