Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani's announcement: From March 27, applications for assistance in 148 different components can be made on the i-Khedut portal
A very important and encouraging announcement has been made by the state government for the farmers and animal husbandry of Gujarat. State Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Jitubhai Vaghani has said that the government is committed to providing various scheme benefits to farmers with the beginning of the new financial year 2026-27. For this purpose, the 'i-Khedut' portal will be opened for accepting online applications from March 27 for one month i.e. till April 26, 2026.
Historic decision: Portal operational immediately after the budget
Usually, the implementation of government schemes takes time, but this time the Agriculture Department has set a new record. Minister Jitubhai Vaghani termed this decision as historic and said that the Agriculture Department will probably become the first department in the state to open a portal for farmers within a few days of the approval of the budget for the year 2026-27 in the assembly. This process has been undertaken with a firm determination to double the income of farmers and modernize agriculture under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel.
Assistance facility for a total of 148 components
This year, farmers and animal husbandry farmers will be able to get assistance in a wide range. Which mainly includes three departments:
Animal Husbandry Department: 12 different components Thus, farmers will be able to apply online under a total of 148 agricultural and animal husbandry components.
On which equipment and facilities will assistance be available?
To promote modern agriculture, the government will provide subsidies on the purchase of items like tractors, combine harvesters, rotavators, laser land levelers, power tillers, oil engines and smartphones. Apart from this, applications can also be made for barbed wire fences, crop storage structures (godowns), solar power units and pump sets to protect farm produce.
There is a provision for special assistance for mini tractors, net houses, polyhouses, cold storage and fruit and flower cultivation for horticultural farmers. In particular, encouragement will also be given for the cultivation of ‘Kamalam’ (dragon fruit) and oil palm.
Schemes for animal husbandry
For friends involved in animal husbandry, assistance has been announced for construction of kettle sheds, establishment of new dairy farms, stipend for poultry training, as well as assistance for setting up of paddy-calf rearing and goat units.
Application process and fast disposal
The application process for farmers has been kept extremely simple. Farmers will be able to register themselves or from the Gram Panchayat level online by authenticating through Aadhaar card. The Minister has assured that without waiting for the last date of applications, the subsidy will be paid immediately to the eligible farmers after verifying the applications as they come in. All the farmers of the state have been requested to apply with the necessary documents as soon as possible and take maximum advantage of these schemes.
