RTE Standard 1 Admission 2026 Updates
25/03/2026 : RTE Admission 2026 for Class 1 in Gujarat State will start within 7 days,
Under RTE, parents will be able to choose morning or afternoon shift while filling the form
On the portal, parents will be able to see the details of the shift in addition to the total seats of the school
A notification regarding the admission process for 85 thousand seats under RTE, which is 25 percent of the seats in schools across the state, including Ahmedabad, is likely to be issued by the end of the week. Parents of bright students from poor and middle class will be able to choose the shift that suits them or their preference in schools that have two shifts or shifts, morning and afternoon. Earlier, in many cases, parents from wealthy families were given the opportunity to choose the morning shift.
However, the office of the state's Director of Primary Education Department has changed the portal under the RTE admission process, according to which not only the total seats of the school but also the details of the morning and afternoon shifts will be visible on the RTE portal. As a result, parents will be able to choose their school in a way that suits them while filling the form.
Income limit increased to Rs 6 lakh in 2025
The Office of the Director of Primary Education has increased the annual income limit for parents of children in Ahmedabad area to Rs 6 lakh for the academic year 2025-2026. In previous years, the annual income limit for parents of students seeking admission in Standard-1 was Rs 1.20 lakh for rural areas and Rs 1.50 lakh for urban areas.
Last year, the admission was announced on March 16
The admission process for the academic year 2025-26 was announced on March 16 under the admission process under the RTE Act- 2009. However, the admission process for 25% seats under RTE has not been announced yet.
These documents will have to be kept ready: Proof of residence, Caste certificate of the guardian, Birth certificate, Passport size color photographs, Income certificate of the guardian, BPL-child's Aadhar card, Guardian's Aadhar card.
