રાષ્ટ્રીય શિક્ષણ નીતિ-૨૦૨૦ (NEP-2020)નો મુખ્ય હેતુ વિદ્યાર્થીઓને પ્રાયોગિક અનુભવ સાથેનું શિક્ષણ આપીને કૌશલ્ય વિકાસ, ઉદ્યોગો સાથેનો સંપર્ક અને રોજગાર માટે વધુ સક્ષમ બનાવવાનો છે. આ હેતુને સાકાર કરવા માટે ચાર વર્ષના સ્નાતક અભ્યાસક્રમના છઠ્ઠા સેમેસ્ટરમાં ૪ ક્રેડિટની ફરજિયાત ઇન્ટર્નશિપનો સમાવેશ કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
ઇન્ટર્નશિપ દરમિયાન વિદ્યાર્થીઓને મુસાફરી, ભોજન અને અન્ય જરૂરી ખર્ચમાં સહાય મળે તે માટે રાજ્ય સરકાર દ્વારા શૈક્ષણિક વર્ષ ૨૦૨૬-૨૭થી "કૌશલ્ય સહાય યોજના" અમલમાં મૂકવામાં આવી છે. આ યોજના હેઠળ સરકારી તથા ગ્રાન્ટ-ઇન-એઇડ કોલેજોના છઠ્ઠા સેમેસ્ટરની ફરજિયાત ઇન્ટર્નશિપ પૂર્ણ કરનાર દરેક પાત્ર વિદ્યાર્થીને રૂ. ૨,૦૦૦/-ની નાણાકીય સહાય DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) મારફતે સીધી તેમના બેંક ખાતામાં જમા કરવામાં આવનાર છે.

The main objective of the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020) is to make students more employable by providing practical experience in skill development, industry exposure and employment. To achieve this objective, a compulsory internship of 4 credits has been included in the sixth semester of the four-year bachelor's degree course.
The State Government has implemented the "Skill Assistance Scheme" from the academic year 2026-27 to provide assistance to students in travel, food and other necessary expenses during the internship. Under this scheme, every eligible student who completes the compulsory internship of the sixth semester of government and grant-in-aid colleges will be given a financial assistance of Rs. 2,000/- through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
